By Todd Russell Sep22,2023

Season 2, Week 3 & 4 (this game will be featured for two weeks) of Score Chasing begins Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 12:00:01 PST (GMT-8) featuring Robotron: 2084, the arcade version. This article will tell you everything you need to know about how to join our group and play.

PLEASE NOTE: this score chasing event is for adults, age 18 and older, so if you aren’t yet 18, then please return when you are.

First, let’s learn more about Robotron: 2084 (Arcade). How is the game played, via Arcade-Museum:

Each kind of Robotron has a different way of attacking you and also different point values. Points are also scored by destroying the missiles that they fire at you, by destroying other enemies that appear during each wave and by saving humans.

-Grunts (100 points) do not shoot but they will attack in large numbers.
-Brains (500 points) can fire Cruise Missles (25 points) at you and turn humans into Progs (100 points).
-Spheroids (1000 points) can create Enforcers (150 points) which fire guided mines (25 points) at you.
-Quarks(1000 points) will create Tanks (200 points) that will try to run over you or fire Bounce Bombs (25 points) at you.
-Hulks are indestructible and will kill humans as they approach. Your blaster will only halt them as long as you are shooting them.
-Obstacles such as Electrodes in your path can be removed by firing at them with your blaster.
-Humans are worth an increasing point value. The first human scores 1000 points, the second is worth 2000 points and so on until the point value reaches 5000. The point value will remain at 5000 for all the remaining humans in the same wave. When the wave is completed or you have been killed, the points awarded for saving another human will be reset to 1000.

During each wave, you must destroy all the Robotrons (with the exception of the indestructible Hulks) and rescue as many human family members as possible in order to proceed to the next wave. When you complete wave 255 it will appear as if you just started the game! Wave 1 starts it all over. Your score will be unaffected.

This will take you directly to the official PGM iScored Score Chasing Scoreboard at the spot where you will enter your score on Asteroids Deluxe (Arcade). Where can you play Asteroids Deluxe (Arcade)? Here are a few suggestions (alphabetical order) but is not a complete list by any means:

  • Antstream Arcade is a cloud based streaming game service that has over 1300 licensed games, including Robotron: 2084 arcade version (direct link to game in browser). Note: a monthly or yearly subscription to this service is required, pricing varies. Our PGM group also plays/sends Antstream challenges to other members on various games on this service. If you are a subscriber add us (I’m todd_russell on there, level 100+)
  • Arcade – yes, check your local area for barcaes, arcades, mallcades, etc. There might be a Robotron:2084 arcade machine nearby and play might still be a quarter!
  • PlayStation 5 or 4 does not have Robotron:2084, but a search for “Midway” for older Playstation systems will reveal multiple ways to play Robotron:2084 (arcade).
  • Various Emulated / MAME / CoinOpsX / etc – emulated versions of Asteroids Deluxe (Arcade) are allowed, but we do not typically link to these sources
  • Xbox Series S/X – Midway Arcade Origins includes Robotron:2084 arcade (store link)

Now that you have located where to play Robotron: 2084, simply start playing to establish your personal best score. The goal of score chasing is not a typical leaderboard high score, be the top score tournament. We simply want you to play and beat your personal best.
