Before Starfield launched (related: Where/When/If You Will Be Playing Starfield Launching Wednesday 9/6/2023?), we talked about the different versions of the game in the PGM discord. The $299 Constellation Edition was the most expensive at launch and included a watch.
The watch reminded me, if you look at my comments above, like a toy found in a cereal box. Alas, a month after launch, some of the owners of this watch are having problems with it, via Starfield Constellation Edition watches are dying after just a month:
A Starfield player posted on Reddit explaining that their Constellation Edition watch had broken after just over a month and Bethesda wasn’t initially interested in helping them. “So after a month and a week of working just fine, I left it on the charger and a day later … the watch is dead. I tried everything to get it working, including support instructions on the Bethesda website and nothing would bring it back,” OP opened exposing the watch’s death.
Some of these collector’s editions include stuff that is supposed to entice diehard fans like these watches. Honestly, for me, the watch did the opposite. I get that they want to get more $$ out of gamers with super expensive physical editions with some kind of collectible stuff, but this is one area where FOMO (fear of missing out) should not be a factor. Look at what each of these deluxe editions is giving you and ask yourself: do I really need (this)?
We at PGM hope those that bought this Starfield Constellation Edition do not have any issues with their watch. Feel free to share your story below with this and/or any other deluxe editions you have bought and have either felt was worth or not the extra money.
UPDATE 10/20/2023 @ 2:30pm PST: PGM member Rebel shares this article about a Cease & Desist letter scuttling a giveaway for an Epic PC Bundle featuring Starfield, via: https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/starfield-ending-explained/:
“Unfortunately, we here at Skytech Gaming are sorry to inform you that the giveaway for the Control Panel PC Epic Build has ended a bit earlier than expected. After all the passion and hundreds of hours of effort from our team that went into the creation of this custom, one-of-a-kind PC, we received a cease and desist letter claiming possible infringement. In compliance with their demands, we have decided to end the campaign early and will be surrendering the machine to them for destruction. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the giveaway. Know that we are just as disappointed as you are.
To make it up to you, our community, we will be giving away two custom-built PCs that have the same specs as the Control Panel PC, just using more traditional design for the cases. If you have already entered, you will not need to enter again. If you haven’t, use the link below to enter to win. Although we are saddened that one of you will not be taking the Control Panel PC home, this is not the end of our Epic PC Builds. We are already hard at work with SignalRGB on our next one, and we can’t wait to show you. Again, we are deeply sorry, but be on the lookout for the next giveaway coming soon”
