What if Physical Games Included Digital Copies for all Platforms like Amazon CD Music with MP3?

When was the last time you bought a CD from Amazon? On release day bought the CD for the new Judas Priest album, Invincible Shield (Yeah, I know this was a year ago in March 2024, it’s been awhile since I wrote this) and look what showed up in email the day before the CD was delivered?

This is really handy! They AutoRip for those who purchase the CD and it’s placed in your Amazon Music library, so you don’t have to rip it manually yourself.

My next thought was: what if we bought a physical copy of a game and we also received all digital versions for free, cross platform? It would be amazing if it was every version on every game system we owned, and yes, how would this work, but it would make buying the physical copy more desirable if you got say the PC version, PS5, Xbox and Switch, etc versions.

It would make the $70-$120+ USD price for a new AAA game more desirable.

No, this probably won’t happen, but one can dream.

Didn’t think there would be a day when I’d buy a physical copy of music and it came autoripped to digital format in my email before I received the physical media. It’s the little things that make customers happy and this is a big little thing.
