The Last Time We Played Stream Raiders via Retro This Week Game (RTWIG #12)

By Todd Russell Mar 25, 2025

Am starting to fall into trend that what happens during Monday’s live stream becomes Tuesday’s riff. This week we played a full level of Stream Raiders (streamraiders.com), thank you to all those that put down troops and helped us be victorious against the boss. Not linking it because the developers, Captain.tv are sunsetting the game on 3/31/2025 and no idea what will become of the domain.

Stream Raiders, for those that never played, was a game that let viewers join a Twitch streamer in a battle every 30 minutes against enemies. Viewers can place troops every five minutes and the streamer starts the battle. At the end of the battle, if victorious, then some loot will be available for the streamer to award to active players in the battle. If the battle is lost, there is some minor consolation loot.

The game was completely free to play, for both viewers and the streamer and could be played via mobile or on a desktop. In the beginning of our streaming days, soon to be three years at Twitch we played a lot of Stream Raiders.

At some point, like with pretty much all games, game fade set in (see: Game Fade = How Long Does it Take You to Lose Interest Playing a Game?), but I fondly remember the excitement of reaching 100 followers on Twitch so that we could finally become stream captains.

That 100 follower thing might seem easy to some folks, but it was a challenge for our Twitch channel in the beginning and took a little time. It was nice to have a meaningful goal for followers that would allow running our own battles and when we reached it, we played the game a bunch of times.

  1. I’m glad I got a chance to experience Stream Raiders for the first time with the PGM crew the other day. It will be interesting to see if anything happens to it in the future. I think games like this are fun, and can enhance streams.
