Ok, this fake game advertising thing is getting out of hand. I know, I know, you don’t watch ads, use blockers, etc. If you play mobile games, ads can be a necessary evil at times, at least until you decide if you’re going to pay to get away from them.
I also am curious what companies are advertising sometimes online, and I’m noticing a weird trend in ads that I don’t recall in the past so much.
Fake games.
Yes, there are ads for games that appear to show engaging, fun gameplay but when you download they are only a small part of the game, not the main part of the game.
Apparently, it’s a tactic some are employing to draw attention from gamers.
“That is, in essence, what is happening—including with the purported Guitar Hero Mobile advertisement that made the rounds on Instagram for its shoddy AI-generated artwork. Turns out no, there isn’t a Guitar Hero Mobile game, it’s just a devious scheme to get you to do a survey.” – Finding a new and inventive way to annoy everybody, Activision has company use AI to generate fake advertisements for games that don’t exist | PC Gamer
Huh?! A freaking survey, and not even a new Guitar Hero game? Come on, Activision, er Microsoft.
