Season 2 Week 5: Joust (Arcade) – How to Join Us, Play, Beat Your Personal Best

Season 2, Week 5 of Score Chasing begins Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 12:00:01 PST (GMT-8) featuring Joust, the arcade version. This article will tell you everything you need to know about how to join our group and play.

PLEASE NOTE: this score chasing event is for adults, age 18 and older, so if you aren’t yet 18, then please return when you are.

First, let’s learn more about Joust (Arcade). How is the game played, via Arcade-Museum:

Each player controls a different knight and each of them rides a different mount. The first player is a yellow knight who rides on a flying ostrich. The second player is a light blue knight who rides on a giant stork.

There are three different enemy knights who all ride on giant buzzards and each of them are colored differently. The enemy knights are red Bounders, silver Hunters and dark blue Shadow Lords. The other enemies include the “unbeatable” pterodactyl and The Lava Troll, a giant hand that reaches out and grabs from one of the two lava pools at the bottom of the screen.

At the top of this post, you’ll see an Joust event promo image with a QR Code created by PGM member, Gamer_Nix. This will take you directly to the official PGM iScored Score Chasing Scoreboard at the spot where you will enter your score on Joust (Arcade). Where can you play? Here are a few suggestions (alphabetical order) but is not a complete list by any means:

  • Antstream Arcade is a cloud based streaming game service that has over 1300 licensed games, including Joust arcade version (direct link to game in browser). Note: a monthly or yearly subscription to this service is required, pricing varies. Our PGM group also plays/sends Antstream challenges to other members on various games on this service. If you are a subscriber add us (I’m todd_russell on there, level 100+)
  • Arcade – yes, check your local area for barcaes, arcades, mallcades, etc. You might have a JOUST arcade machine nearby and play might still be a quarter!
  • Internet Archive – play Joust the arcade game in the browser via the Internet Archive here: https://archive.org/details/arcade_joust
  • Arcade1Up Joust Machine – If you or a friend/family member owns one of these, give it a play
  • Xbox Series S/X – Midway Arcade Origins includes Joust store link)
  • PlayStation (PS5,4,3,2,1) – Currently the PS5 does not include a Midway game pack or arcade archives that includes Joust, but PS1, 2 and 3 all included Midway collections that included Joust
  • Nintendo Switch – as of this writing, no version of Joust is available for Nintendo Switch, but Joust can be found on many other Nintendo consoles and handheld systems through the years
  • Steam / Steam Deck / PC – Joust is not available on Steam or for the Steam Deck in the store, however, various emulators will run Joust on the Steam Deck (see next)
  • Various Emulated / MAME / CoinOpsX / etc – emulated versions of Asteroids Deluxe (Arcade) are allowed, but we do not typically link to these sources

Now that you have located where to play JOUST, simply start playing to establish your personal best score. The goal of score chasing is not a typical leaderboard high score, be the top score tournament. We simply want you to play and beat your personal best. Every time you do, you’ll update your score on the PGM iScored Scoreboard here and linked in the QR code of the image at the top of this article: https://www.iscored.info/?mode=public&user=Playgamesmore&scrollTo=39606
