Let’s talk swag, merch. You know, the gaming goodies you see in the background of (some/many?) gamers on Twitch and YouTube. It’s not something I’m that into, but I know some really like to collect gaming-related stuff.
Sharing gaming-related activities, websites, events and games being played and so on is encouraged among PlayGamesMore members. It’s a great way to learn about game-related things that other members might be interested in. PGM member and Twitch streamer Sonic321master (https://www.twitch.tv/sonic321master) recently shared the following in the PGM discord:
I hadn’t heard of Fangamer.com before, so asked for a follow-up from him. Sonic321Master replied with:
Fangamer does not have a relationship with every game studio/company as can be seen by the smaller list below:
Even a cursory look at this list will bring up some large companies missing like, er, Nintendo, Warner Brothers / Midway. Unfortunately, this brings up an issue with merchandising that the bigger companies choose to go this road directly, selling all their own merch at their own prices and/or they can be incredibly selective with what companies and quality will have their brand/name.
In fact, the Nintendo merchandising store (https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/merchandise/) is pretty extensive:
Now back to Fangamer, I’m a hat guy, so this Capcom hat interested me somewhat.
Pretty good price, but I’m unable to see the back of the hat. This is very important to me, because some hats have a very cheap clasp that doesn’t hold and I like to actually wear these hats. There does not appear to be a way to rotate the merch around like some merchandising sites do to show all sides of the product.
Are you into merch and swag for games? If so, where do you like to shop online/off? Have you tried Fangamer before? If so, what do you think of their site/service? The Fangamer About page indicates that Fangamer has been at this since 2008 and is based out of Tucson, Arizona.
Tucson is where most of the raunchy 1984 comedy Revenge of the Nerds was filmed over six weeks. NERDS! Here’s something interesting and odd, an attorney on YouTube sharing what would be illegal if actually done in that movie:
NERDS! NERDS! NERDS! — that movie would never be done in 2023 the same way it was done in 1984, the era of the raunchy frat comedies.
