It seems like every time I’m on YouTube and other sites, I keep seeing these same two mobile games to play: Last War: Survivor and Township. Both are free but heavily about paid packs to buy to help you do better in the game. This author’s opinion on games like these, gacha I think is the name, is avoid them and play non gacha games.

If you haven’t seen these commercials, your job is to take out hordes of enemies coming at you, the lower the number, eventually you beat it and it provides power-ups, additional weapons and more. Looks like fun in the commercials, but it’s pure pay to win.
There is a base building central game that once you get through the action phase, you need to build and level up. I didn’t spend any $$$ on this game, but did see some popups encouraging me to buy (expensive) packs, presumably to help speed up leveling and reduce cooldowns on stuff already buillding. No thanks, just here for that cool minigame. Too bad that isn’t the entire game, skip the building stuff.

After playing Township for a little bit, was immediately reminded of playing the games years ago. Yes, it’s been around and is one of those progressive building games. You know, the ones where you do a bunch of stuff and the game becomes waiting for the timers to expire. Often these are pay to play, because you reach a point where you need to buff finishing those real-time timers.
These games suck. The building is the game and the mini game is how they suck you in. You get to a point in the mini game where you are almost required to spend money because of the amount of enemies it throws at you. The frustrating thing is the number of YT people saying the mini game is the game. Social media influencers are the snake oil sellers if this generation.
