Donut Dodo + New This Week Game Releases (NTWIG) 9/9 – 9/15/2024

This week’s PGM recommended game is Donut Dodo (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1779560/Donut_Dodo/) – this is also a game we’re actively Score Chasing in Season 3 Week 1 this week (see: Season 3 Week 1: Donkey Kong + Donut Dodo – How to Join Us, Play, Beat Your Personal Best (New Season Debut)

For those that haven’t played this amazing modern retro game: it plays and feels like something that could have been in the arcade in 1983 and is intentionally modeled in that style. It’s brutally hard and equally replayable and a perfect game to score chase. In fact, it’s one of the first we’ve re-featured in our seasonal score chasing challenges. In Season 3 we are going to be re-featuring other games in addition to adding ones we haven’t featured yet. The other game this week is Donkey Kong (arcade) and it’s the first time we’ve featured DK. It’s a one-two punch of great games and we hope you’ll take time, play, enjoy and submit your best score to our PGM leaderboard.

And now, again, it’s that time of the week again to check for noteworthy game releases for PC/Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch via Metacritic. We also discuss these games live on the High Noon with Hollywood Polo stream at noon Tuesdays PST (GMT-8) here: https://www.twitch.tv/playgamesmoredotcom including commentary from other PGM members, wishlist interest and more. (UPDATE 9/10/2024 @ 5:57am PST: Show unfortunately has been canceled due to day job conflict. We’ll be back tomorrow for Humpday Wednesday, hopefully).

SUMMARY

Wow, this week has a bunch of new games, and some that are worth checking out like Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, that’s calling to me big time, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP and Yars Rising. Those are wishlisters and most likely buys if/when the price is right, although will admit I’m a bit mixed on Yars being re-imagined as an action game vs. the arcade, but hey, it might work. The price for the Capcom stuff always goes down during the big Steam sales, so patience there will save some $$, unless you just have to get into the action (that’s likely my play lol). You? What do you think of this week’s new games? Or are you just chilling and score chasing Donkey Kong and Donut Dodo?

Spread the love
