Legendary Role-Playing Games Creator, Gary Gygax has his own day of celebration July 27.

More than 30 years ago, Ernest Gary Gygax along with Dave Arneson introduced the world to fantasy table-top games, and we have been hooked ever since. It remains one of the most popular games having undergone many spin-offs and adaptations. It has paved the path for books such as “Game of Thrones” and “The Witcher.” The latter itself is an extension of a role-playing game. Gary Gygax is often called the ‘father of modern role-playing games.’

GARY GYGAX DAY – July 27, 2024 – National Today

How are you going to get your D&D on today? Or are you going to pass? Not a D&D fan? I’ll probably always look fondly upon this game, but admittedly more the original RPG game played more with our imagination than any digital version.

I enjoyed playing the MMORPG D&D on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/206480/Dungeons__Dragons_Online/

It’s been awhile since there has been any sort of update on this game in Steam (27 months as pictured above), and there have been issues trying to play it on some of my systems more recently, but originally I did enjoy playing this game.

  1. Hi Todd!

Josh reached out to me as played Neverwinter on PC and got a Barbarian up to level 20 but was unsure if it was fun or not. That seems pretty underwhelming from a game design standpoint. I have the seem feeling about it thou, I found only a few of the classes viable and got stuck at some point and couldn’t advance. Are you going to put DDO on your new PC and try to play that with me again once I get my next PC?
