It’s Groundhog Day tomorrow, Feb 2, and yes, there is a VR game movie tie-in of sorts

Who hasn’t seen Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray and Andie Macdowell? For those that haven’t seen, a non-spoiler description: it’s a funny, but endearing time loop story starring an unlikeable newscaster that gets stuck in a time loop on Groundhog Day, February 2.

One area that VR dabbles in that I find fascinating are TV and movie tie-ins. Traditionally videogames and movie and TV tie-in games, except for pinball, have been mostly mediocre in fun factor. Could VR be different like pinball?

There is one on the Meta / Quest we’ve covered here before: May 11 Twilight Zone Day + VR Game. No, I haven’t checked that out yet, and here’s another I’m curious about: Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son on Oculus Rift | Rift VR Games | Meta Store

“From the developers of “Deadlight,” “RIME,” “The Sexy Brutale” and “The Invisible Hours,” comes “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son”, a modern-day, comedic story featuring puzzles and branching narrative gameplay. Players take on the role of Phil Connors Jr., the charming but arrogant son of the original film’s protagonist. Returning to his hometown of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Phil Jr. becomes trapped in a time loop just like his father before him. Players will solve puzzles, interact with new and familiar characters, and explore the town as they try to escape the time loop.”

Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son is $14.99 on Meta. It’s also available for PlayStation VR and Steam VR (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1087500/Groundhog_Day_Like_Father_Like_Son/).

Anybody reading that has played this game? What do you think? If you haven’t played, any interest in it?
