It’s about time Steam cracks down on unfulfilled DLC and Season Passes. I wish they’d target too long into the future release dates next. Games shouldn’t be listed for years before they come out. If you can’t release your game within the next 12 months, then it doesn’t need a freaking Steam listing that says “coming soon”. Soon isn’t defined as years away, it’s days, weeks or a very small number of months.
But what are they doing with Season Passes, anyway?
“And if a developer ever cancels or fails to release a DLC in a Season Pass, you’ll be offered a refund for the value of that unreleased DLC.” via Steam cracks down on vague and unfulfilled DLCs and Season Passes | PCWorld
Good news!
Meanwhile, there is a white limited edition Steam Deck (https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck) for those that want an Apple-like design. $679 and it’s the newer version of the Deck, with the better screen and battery life (see: Steam Deck OLED Shipping November 16, 2023 starting at $549). This white edition comes out a year later. Clearly, Valve wanted to have something “new” to offer on the Steam Deck front this holiday season. It might be of interest to those that don’t have a Steam Deck already, but it’s (still) not upgrade worthy.
I’m still using my Steam Deck fairly regularly and think it’s a great portable gaming device. My oldest son who bought Jaws picked up a Rog Ally recently. He hasn’t said much about it, so hoping to hear what he thinks about that soon.
hi Todd!
I wish these prices on these handheld gaming systems were more reasonable. I think a low tier laptop would have more power to play these classic games plus full computer functionality. What do you think?
Dragging around a laptop isn’t nearly as portable or friendly as something that fits between your hands like a controller and has the entire gaming experience there. Yes, you can get more power by getting something bigger, but you lose that “let me just pick it up and play really quick” aspect. We have phones that are more portable than these devices, but at 2-3+ times the cost. Yes, it would be nice if the price was lower for these and you can get them refurbished and used for almost half-price.
